Catalyze Pittsburgh Launches $1.5M Career-Connected Learning Challenge

We’re seeking bold new ideas to connect young people with the careers shaping Southwestern Pennsylvania’s future.

Catalyze Pittsburgh is a $1.5 million regional funding challenge that brings together the national Catalyze Challenge, the Richard King Mellon Foundation, and Partner4Work.

The initiative will support innovative, early-stage career-connected learning ideas that introduce young people to pathways in emerging industries and occupations. Funding will prioritize opportunities for youth from financially constrained families and those facing challenging circumstances. 

Serving Southwestern Pennsylvania

Ages: 11–18 years old 

Eligible counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington, and Westmoreland

Funding Timeline: Two rounds during 2026 and 2027. The first application period will run from September 22 through October 30, 2026.
