Veterans Value Initiative – Employers

The Veterans Value Initiative reconnects veterans to the civilian workforce by translating the skills and qualifications gained during active duty into jobs in construction, energy, health care, IT and tech related, and manufacturing. Employers in these sectors can be reimbursed for the wages and training costs associated with onboarding and training veterans.

This program is available to veterans of the U.S. armed forces who have not received a dishonorable discharge and who are receiving unemployment compensation benefits or who have exhausted unemployment compensation benefits (PA CareerLink® staff will determine final eligibility). Priority will be given to businesses that have hired veterans or plan to hire veterans and have programs in place to acquire, develop, and retain veteran talent; however, a team of workforce development professionals will help you develop a plan to onboard and train veteran talent.

Employer Benefits

  • If you don’t already have a candidate in mind, we can provide you with a pool of pre-screened, motivated, and qualified veteran talent from which to choose.
  • Reimbursement for the costs associated with training this new hire for as many as six months.
  • Minimal paperwork and timely reimbursements.
  • A team of professionals dedicated to helping you every step of the way

Employer Obligations

  • Employers provide the instruction, equipment, materials and evaluations.
  • Employers must agree to hire veterans as regular, full-time employees.
  • Pay and benefits must be commensurate with what you pay others doing similar work.
  • Employers will be asked to advise on best practices as the program progresses.
