Programs

Through key partnerships and a vibrant portfolio of programs and initiatives, Partner4Work commits to building a thriving workforce in the Pittsburgh area. These key programs can help increase opportunity for those with barriers to employment; help young people learn about career paths and dream big about their future careers; and help regional businesses grow for generations to come.

4Construction is a partnership among Partner4Work, Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), and the Builders Guild of Western PA to train individuals interested in the construction trades as pre-apprentices. As pre-apprentices, participants are qualified to pursue union apprenticeships and, ultimately, jobs on the Terminal Modernization Program (TMP) or beyond.

Partner4Work, in collaboration with the PA Bankers Association and several of the region’s leading financial institutions, is proud to launch the nationally recognized BankWork$® training program in the Pittsburgh region to help individuals become qualified candidates for tellers, customer service representatives, and personal banker positions.

The Career Pipeline Program offers paid vocational training opportunities with direct connections to employers and immediate job openings in the construction, environmental remediation, healthcare, finance, and automotive industries. 

The Employment, Advancement and Retention Network (EARN) Program was created in 1987 in order to address the needs of welfare recipients with barriers to employment and to better coordinate the existing employment and training programs available for them. EARN is currently operating in all 67 Pennsylvania Counties.

Partner4Work regularly seeks collaborators who are ready to dig in and get to work on improving the region’s workforce. One such endeavor is called Industry Partnerships, which invites businesses, training providers, and other organizations to join Partner4Work in developing workforce capacity and diversity as they grow.

Good jobs are good for business. Businesses that offer good jobs are more competitive in attracting talent and benefit from increased retention, productivity, and innovation. Partner4Work is dedicated to supporting local employers in implementing good job strategies, including working directly with business leaders through industry partnerships, peer working groups, and one-on-one consulting. 

PA CareerLink®, in partnership with local training providers is helping job seekers gain the skills that local employers are looking to hire. Qualifying individuals can receive a grant to participate in a short-term training that supports one of the following high-priority industries:

Learn & Earn is a summer jobs program delivered jointly by the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and Partner4Work. The 6-week paid program is open to young people ages 14 to 21 who meet certain income and other eligibility requirements.

In collaboration with local partners, Jones Day, and IBM, Partner4Work is proud to bring SkillsBuild to the Pittsburgh region. Pittsburgh the first city in the U.S. to launch this career readiness platform to support businesses, job seekers, and non-profit organizations as they emerge from the economic disruption of COVID-19.

Partner4Work's Transitional Jobs (TJ) program helps those with significant barriers to employment build a solid work history. TJ consists of short-term paid work opportunities that are focused in culinary arts, masonry, and welding, all of which are high-demand skills in Pittsburgh's regional economy.
