Partner4Work News Brief, Week of October 24, 2022

Nikia

Nikia enrolled in the EARN program during the Spring of 2022 as a SNAP participant with Goodwill of SWPA.  Upon entering the program, Nikia was in the process of completing her training as Peer Specialist at the Institute of Mental Health Partnerships. This field was a natural fit for her because of her deep ties to her community, peer relationships, and her church.

Faith

Faith is a 43-year-old dedicated, single mother of two. Faith was referred to EDSI’s EARN Program in June 2022 to help her complete her undergraduate studies and pursue her interest in anesthesiology. After she enrolled in the EARN Program, she decided to meet regularly with EDSI’s Behavior Health Advocate (BHA) to better understand barriers, maladaptive coping behaviors, personal goals, and career goals.

Employer Profile: EDSI EARN Program

In 2022, EDSI partnered closely with Allied Universal®, a leading security systems and services, janitorial services and staffing company. EDSI’s Job Developers established a strong, ongoing work relationship with Allied’s HR department to connect the EARN Program participants to available careers in security. Through this collaboration, EDSI referred three EARN Program participants to apply for positions at Allied. Allied has hired all three candidates referred by EDSI. All three are currently enjoying their new roles as workers in the security industry and are on a clear path to job retention. EDSI has begun conversations with Allied’s local leadership team to plan a higher-level partnership to include soft skills training for future potential employees.
