PA CareerLink® Downtown Center to Relocate May 5, 2014

PITTSBURGH – Get in. Get out. Get to work!

The Pittsburgh offices of PA CareerLink® are moving. Effective 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 5, the Downtown offices of the one-stop workforce services center will open at Wood Street Commons, 304 Wood Street, Downtown.

"This new space in the vibrant Wood Street corridor was designed with the customer in mind," said W. Randy Rice, project director for PA CareerLink® Pittsburgh/Allegheny County. "Whether you're a job seeker looking for a job or an employer looking for talent, you'll quickly and efficiently find and access the services you need to help land your next job or your next employee."

Convenient to both public transportation and the Third Avenue Pittsburgh Parking Authority garage, the Downtown PA CareerLink® offices will collocate with the Pittsburgh Partnership's Employment Advancement and Retention Network (EARN) welfare-to-work program, providing accessibility and convenience for its customers.

PA CareerLink®'s Downtown offices will occupy space on the ground and second floors. Services on the first floor include triage and self-service features such as a free computer resource center, phone and faxing services. More specialized services including workshops, General Equivalency Diploma preparation and testing and job search assistance will be delivered on the second floor. Areas will be clearly marked, and representatives will be widely available on both floors to assist.

PA CareerLink® Pittsburgh/Allegheny provides workforce services to 36,000 job seekers annually and helps connect more than 20,000 people with jobs. In addition, about 15,000 employers post more 16,000 jobs a year with PA CareerLink® and access a range of free services including customized job training programs and talent matching.

Partnering organizations operating at the new center include the PA Department of Labor and Industry, Bureau of Workforce Partnership & Operations, the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and ResCare Workforce Services. PA CareerLink® also is a part of Pittsburgh Works, a Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board-led consortium of workforce development organizations dedicated to increasing the number of job seekers connected to well-paying jobs in the region.

The Downtown office, at 425 Sixth Avenue, will be closed on May 2 during the move; the PA CareerLink® East office in Forest Hills will be open as normal.
