Local Workforce Boards to Serve as Fiscal Agents for Next Gen Industry Partnership Grants

Governor Tom Wolf recently announced $30 million in grants available through PAsmart, a workforce development initiative to help job seekers connect with employment and training opportunities. The grants focus on K-12 computer science, STEM education, and industry partnerships.

Local workforce development boards, including Partner4Work, will serve as fiscal agents for up to $4.6 million in Next Generation Industry Partnership grants across the commonwealth. Through this program, employers from the same industry and region, along with economic development organizations, workforce development boards, and community-based providers form public-private partnerships to focus on worker training.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) for Next Generation Industry Partnerships  grants is posted online. Eligible applicants include community-based organizations, post-secondary education providers, industry associations, labor organizations, and others. The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, December 14, 2018.
