INSPIRE Program Serves SUD Community

Partner4Work's INSPIRE program serves job seekers in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD), funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission through partnership with three other workforce boards in the southwest PA region. Locally operated by the Allegheny County PA CareerLink, participants have access to a wide range of workforce training and services, including Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) training through the Pennsylvania Peer Support Coalition. Twenty-four trainees graduated from the first CRS cohort in March, many of which obtained promotions, raises, and employment within the drug and alcohol treatment services field. Individuals who have been in recovery for 18+ months are eligible to enroll in CRS training. Becoming a CRS is a great way to jumpstart a career in this field, earning sustainable wages with benefits and serving a critical role on treatment teams. Future CRS training cohorts will be announced soon.
