About this position

We’re searching for a skilled PMO Manager to help build and oversee our Project Management Office. Our PMO is still relatively new, and the right person will help us solidify a PMO Framework, ensure that our project management framework and tools are followed by all, and supervise a team of Project Managers bringing organization, leadership, and capacity to workforce development projects. They will be responsible for creating a governance framework, managing the day-to-day activities in the PMO, monitoring multiple project life cycles to provide regular updates, and ensuring alignment to short and long term goals. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively throughout levels of the organization, facilitating meetings and communications to reduce the impact of silos, while promoting best practices. The PMO Manager will also be responsible for implementing and managing changes or interventions to ensure project goals are achieved. This position requires people management experience and proven knowledge of project management skills to drive cross-functional team activities.

Essential Responsibilities

●      Understand organizational goals and gaps, build a PMO framework to help create alignment, manage risk, and build organizational capacity. Develop and sustain standardized PM processes, implemented in a consistent and repeatable manner.

●      Lead a team of project managers. Provide oversight ensuring project managers identify and resolve problems, gaps, and challenges for their assigned projects quickly.

●      Drive projects across teams, prioritizing projects based on importance, outcome, and urgency. Provide analysis of tradeoffs when making decisions or adapting timelines.

●      Enable the sharing of best practices across all applicable teams. Foster an environment of inclusion and collaboration, where relationships are built on shared successes for cross-functional teams.

●      Engage with project owners to convert their vision into outcome-based project plans with clear steps and measurable outcomes.

●      Provide transparency to stakeholders by creating visibility into capacity and availability, current project steps, blocking actions, and solutions. Work to eliminate silos across the organization.

●      Ensure the right people have access to the right information to make the right decisions, steer decision making as necessary to create timelines and provide outcomes.

●      Act as the initial point of contact for the teams’ escalations for project activities, schedule, and status. Ensuring proper communication on deliverables is escalated appropriately through executive management levels within the organization.

●      Contributes to the development of a supportive and collaborative work environment through active participation in internal collaborations, team, and activities.

●      Provide a high level of customer service for existing and prospective partners through transparent, accessible, and open dialogue about the organization’s strategy and prospective projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

●     4+ years people management experience including performance management, motivation, career development and resolving conflict.

●     6+ years managing diverse projects, strong Team Leadership skills.

●     Strong project management methodology background, including schedule, scope, issue and risk management experience.

●     Experience managing the complete lifecycle of a project with project teams of 5 to 25 people, with clear articulation of timelines, requirements, and outcomes.

●     Experience establishing new offices or lines of business, creating workflows, mapping value, and cultivating impact.

●     Hands-on experience with developing and using project management tools and processes such as project charters, dashboards, snapshots, RAID logs, and Asana.

●     Forward looking thinker, who proactively seeks opportunities for improvements and solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

●     Professional certification including PMP/PRINCE is preferred but not required.

●     Workforce development experience is preferred but not required.

●     Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines.

●     Experience developing in-house processes and templates.

●     Experience coaching and training project managers to strengthen capabilities and skill sets.
